Ongoing carburetor cleaning

I don't think there is any way to make this process go faster. I've got pretty potent solvents, but chemical deposits from 40 years of old gas just take elbow grease to strip away. There is progress, though.

Subscribe! I think it's cool how you're documenting every nut and bolt. This will be so useful to someone else who is thinking of restoring one.

I'd like to hear about how much some of these parts are costing. You can give us the real cost (or how much you told the wife it cost+the mark-up formula) so we know what we might be getting into. I see some old beaters on craigslist that i'd like to buy, but don't have any idea what a real restore would cost.

Thanks, Brad. Regarding the actual expenses, I'm going to clean up the spreadsheet that I use to track them, and just share it out. Watch for a post this week with a link. Great idea to share those; hopefully this is of use to others trying their first bike rebuild.
